Ear Tubes
Ear tube surgery (myringotomy) is often used to treat children and adults with chronic or recurrent middle ear infections. For more information on the process, get in touch.
Types of Ear Tubes
Most ear tubes are temporary and placed to drain middle ear fluid or prevent recurrent ear infections. They typically last 6 months to a year.
Long-Term Ear Tubes
Some patients need ear tubes that last longer than standard ones. Long-term ear tubes are specially designed with longer phalanges to help prevent extrusion.
In-Office Ear Tubes
We can place ear tubes in the office for many adults. This quick and convenient procedure involves numbing the ear drum and using a microscope to precisely place the ear tube.
Reasons for Ear Tubes
Chronic Ear Fluid, Hearing Loss, and Recurrent Ear Infections
Ear tubes are small and hollow cylinders inserted into the eardrum. They may be used to treat middle ear infections that have resulted in partial hearing loss due to the buildup of fluid. While the tubes drain the fluid, they also let air into the ear to prevent further accumulation.
