About Our Research Program

All of the physicians at Kentuckiana Ear, Nose & Throat have extensive research experience.


Our research coordinator, Kathleen, is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and has been certified since 2005. She’s also been involved in numerous research projects since 2001—both in the pharmaceutical and device industry. She is also a registered respiratory therapist (RRT).


Our Clinical Research Medical Director, Dr. Thomas Higgins, has a Masters in Public Health and extensive research experience dating back to 2001. He’s been involved in three different academic institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, University of Louisville, and Eastern Virginia Medical School.


Dr. Higgins has a long list of accomplishments, including over 100 peer-reviewed publications and academic presentations. He’s also acted as a reviewer or Editorial Board Member for several medical journals and has provided advisory consultation for many different medical devices and pharmaceutical companies. 

Our Research Capabilities

Kentuckiana ENT conducts clinical trials that are phase II-IV, outpatient and surgical, and pharmaceutical and medical device-related for most otolaryngologic indications. This includes, but is not limited to, acute sinusitis , chronic sinusitis, nasal polyposis , acute otitis media, recurrent/persistent otitis media, otitis externa, seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial allergic rhinitis, hearing loss, dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, Meniere’s disease, and thyroid neoplasms.


We also conduct investigator-initiated trials and have an interest in clinical outcomes studies. Our clinic also comes with:
